Largest Bluefish Shoot Ever

This past weekend, we shot the largest production ever in Bluefish history. About 40 actors and extras plus our production team, met an hour and a half away at a ranch in a small country town called Peaster (a few minutes outside of Weatherford, Texas). One of our producers, Josh Holden, wrote, produced, and directed the shoot, which will be our Christmas DVD resource (yet to be titled). The resource will be released for ministry leaders to use as sermon illustrations and small group Bible studies. It will also include additional on-camera teaching and a discussion guide.

The shoot lasted from 11:00 am in the morning till 12:30 am the next morning! The weather was windy, humid, and hot and our crew only took a few breaks.

Some of the characters from the shoot included Jesus, Martha, Rebekah, Jacob, Boaz, Samuel, Ruth, David, Mary, Joseph, Mary's father and mother, the 3 shepherds, roman soldiers and more. The actor who played Jesus was covered in corn syrup and red food coloring (for the blood). He was drenched in it from head to toe. When he showered and switched costumes, the areas on his body that had streaks of blood were now white and the rest was tanned. So, he ended up being striped. Thank goodness his costumes for the rest of the day covered up the streaks!

All the long hours and hard work put into the shoot was well worth it as this is going to be a resource churches across the country will use in the Christmas season to impact those they minister to. I’m looking forward to seeing the final product of the Christmas DVD. We’ll keep you posted on it.
