The Year of Paul

The Year of Paul

Last June 28, Pope Benedict declared a year dedicated to St. Paul that would begin one year from then and extend through June 29, 2009. The Pope said that Catholics, Orthodox, and Christians of other denominations will mark this special year as it is the 2000th anniversary of St. Paul’s birth. The year of Paul is quickly approaching as June 28, 2008 is tomorrow!

The year of Paul is pretty neat to hear about because our crew recently returned from Rome to film David Nasser teaching on the life of the Apostle Paul. His teaching in Rome will be in our upcoming 4-part youth series called Paul in Rome. In the series, David Nasser talks about what it means to be faithful to Christ in our culture today. And he challenges youth to live out the gospel like Paul did. David’s passion is really contagious in this series and really speaks to youth and even young adults today.

Many churches are already planning to use Paul in Rome in their ministry and are anxious for its arrival. In my experience writing the leader’s guide curriculum for the series, I’ve been more encouraged to study more about the life of Paul and the context in which he lived in. It’s a perfect year to celebrate the life of Paul.

Paul in Rome will release August 1. Look out for more details on Bluefishtv.com.

Will your church be doing anything special to commemorate the life of Paul this year? What do you admire most about the Apostle Paul?
